Coverage Types
When you are looking for an extended warranty, also known as a Vehicle Service Contract, you are presented with a number of different options, ranging from Bumper To Bumper Coverage to Powertrain Coverage plans, down to coverage just on your engine. Lets quickly break down the differences for you to see what fits your car best.
Bumper To Bumper Coverage
For Newer Cars
Bumper to Bumper Coverage, sometimes known as “Platinum” Coverage, are usually exclusionary plans, which basically writes out under your coverage only the items that will not be covered. This plan covers most mechanical breakdowns on vehicles. It is geared towards new vehicles.
Powertrain Coverage
For Older Vehicles with some miles on them
Powertrain coverage provides coverage on the big ticket items of your car; your engine, your transmission, etc. It is meant for older vehicles it does not usually coverage the smaller parts that breakdown over time due to wear and tear. This is an investment on the most expensive parts of your car!
Engine Only Coverage
Engines are Expensive
Engine Only Coverage is pretty self explanatory. This is for mechanical breakdowns that are engine related. Your engine makes the car go, and is the epicenter of all your car’s being. Consumers like this coverage as it gives them peace of mind that they will be covered in the event of a costly engine issue.
